Non-toxic rodent control

Effective rodent control without rodenticides - protecting your operations, your clients, and the ecosystems around them.

Why non-toxic rodent control matters

Anticoagulant rodenticides have been the backbone of pest control for decades – and they remain biologically active in the rodent’s body long after death.

Predators and scavengers that feed on poisoned rodents are exposed to the same toxins. This is secondary poisoning, and it has been documented in wildlife populations across Europe.

Non-toxic rodent control eliminates this risk at the source.

How Aurotrap delivers effective non-toxic control

Aurotrap is an IoT-enabled multi-catch trap that eliminates rodents instantly, humanely, and without chemicals. Each capture is detected automatically and reported in real time through Aurotrap Manager. No bait, no rodenticides, no residual contamination.

Instant, humane elimination

A CO₂-powered piston delivers a rapid, humane kill without chemicals.

Real-time activity insight

Every event is logged and timestamped automatically – no routine bait station inspections required.

Designed for sensitive environments

Closed-system design contains captured rodents securely – for food production, healthcare, education, and public spaces.

Clean by design

Compliant with EU RoHS, EU REACH, and California Proposition 65 – no regulated hazardous substances in the device itself.

How the Aurotrap works

1.  A rodent approaches

The rodent is lured in by bait. The open-tunnel design keeps neophobia low – rodents accept the trap faster than enclosed stations.

 2. A piston triggers, providing an instant kill

Sensors detect and verify strike position. The piston fires. CO₂-powered, ~30 kg of force. Instant kill, no chemicals.

 3. The rodent slides out – the trap resets

The rodent slides out by itself and the trap resets automatically, ready to strike again. ~80 activations per CO₂ cartridge.

4. Rodent report is sent

The event is reported. Capture, CO₂ level, battery, and trap health stream to the Aurocon platform in real time.

The hidden cost of rodenticide-based control

Conventional pest control depends on routine inspections of bait stations, regardless of activity.

Our own field data from PCO surveys indicates that 70–80% of these visits show no rodent activity – meaning the majority of rodenticide-handling and labour is performed without measurable result. The wider cost:

·       Anticoagulants accumulate biologically in non-target species

·       Contamination spreads across urban and rural ecosystems

·       Regulatory pressure across Europe is steadily increasing

·       ESG-driven customers increasingly require rodenticide-free documentation

Where non-toxic rodent control is no longer optional

In some areas, rodenticide free rodent control should be the only viable solution.

  • Food production and processing – zero chemical contamination risk
  • Schools, daycares, and playgrounds – safe for children, staff, and visitors
  • Hospitals and care homes – meets strict hygiene and safety standards
  • Urban areas and public spaces – protects pets and urban wildlife
  • Agricultural sites – supports biodiversity, production quality and predator populations
  • ESG-regulated industries – documentation for sustainability reporting

From reactive rodenticide use to preventive control

When technicians no longer handle, replenish, and document rodenticides, their time redirects toward what actually prevents infestations: root-cause analysis, structural improvements, and proactive advisory.

Aurotrap doesn’t just remove rodenticides from the equation – it changes how pest control creates value.

FAQ

Is non-toxic rodent control as effective as rodenticides?

For decades the honest answer was no. With sensor-triggered multi-catch systems like the Aurotrap, that has changed: continuous capture, high acceptance rates, and real-time monitoring now match or exceed the operational effectiveness of anticoagulant bait – without the environmental and regulatory cost. With systems like the Aurotrap, it can even be more efficient.

Requirements vary by jurisdiction, but non-toxic methods are increasingly mandatory in food production, healthcare, schools, and childcare environments across the EU. Broader restrictions on second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides (SGARs) are tightening year on year.

Per unit, connected non-toxic hardware costs more than a plastic bait station. Per contract, total cost is typically lower once fewer routine visits, reduced consumables, and automated reporting are factored in – often by a wide margin over a multi-year horizon.

A high-precision sensor detects the rodent inside the trap and triggers a CO₂-powered piston. The strike delivers approximately 30 kg of force, causing an instant, humane kill with no chemicals and no waiting period.

Yes. Multi-catch capability is the specific feature that makes this possible – the Aurotrap continues capturing without manual reset, supporting realistic infestation control rather than one-off interventions.

Rodents are contained inside the trap after capture and removed by the servicing technician during the next scheduled or notification-triggered visit. No rodenticide residues remain in the carcass, so disposal is straightforward and safe for wildlife.

Yes – typically stronger than traditional methods. Every capture and service event is logged automatically with timestamps, producing continuous audit-ready documentation that satisfies HACCP, BRC, IFS, and similar food safety frameworks.
