Multi-catch rat trap

One trap. Continuous capture. No manual reset.

What multi-catch means in practice

A single-catch trap captures one rodent and then does nothing until a technician arrives, resets it, and puts it back into service.

Between one capture and the next inspection – days, weeks, or a full quarter of a service contract – the trap is inactive.

A multi-catch rat trap doesn’t stop. After each capture, the trap resets itself, returns to ready state, and captures the next rodent. Continuous operation, without intervention.

How the Aurotrap achieves continuous multi-catch operation

The Aurotrap is powered by a replaceable CO₂ cartridge that drives a sensor-triggered piston.

After each strike, the mechanism resets automatically and the cartridge feeds the next activation – up to approximately 80 captures per cartridge. The trap monitors its own cartridge and battery status and notifies the operator when service is needed.

Between service events, the trap needs nothing from the technician. It is a self-operating unit.

How the Aurotrap works

1.  A rodent approaches

The rodent is lured in by bait. The open-tunnel design keeps neophobia low – rodents accept the trap faster than enclosed stations.

 2. A piston triggers, providing an instant kill

Sensors detect and verify strike position. The piston fires. CO₂-powered, ~30 kg of force. Instant kill, no chemicals.

 3. The rodent slides out – the trap resets

The rodent slides out by itself and the trap resets automatically, ready to strike again. ~80 activations per CO₂ cartridge.

4. Rodent report is sent

The event is reported. Capture, CO₂ level, battery, and trap health stream to the Aurocon platform in real time.

Why multi-catch matters for real infestation control

A single rat in a bait station is not an infestation – it’s a data point. Real infestation control requires equipment that continues to work between visits, and equipment that scales with the level of activity on site.

  • Continuous capture across an entire service interval, not just the first hour of it
  • No dead time between capture and reset
  • Portfolio-wide activity data – the trap keeps counting, whether or not anyone is on site

Higher capture yield per deployed unit – fewer traps needed to control the same area

Multi-catch vs. traditional single-catch and bait stations

A traditional snap trap is single-catch by design – one strike, one rodent, one technician visit.

A bait station uses rodenticides to bypass the single-strike limit, at the cost of secondary poisoning risk, environmental impact, and increasingly restrictive regulation. A multi-catch rat trap replaces both – mechanical, rodenticide-free, and continuous.

Where a multi-catch rat trap is essential

In some cases, a multi-catch trap is not necessary. But misfortunes never come singly, and the same can be said with rodents. In many cases, having a multi-catch rat trap is essential:

  • Active or suspected infestations – where trap availability between visits is critical
  • High-throughput environments – food production, warehouses, logistics hubs, agricultural sites
  • Sensitive sites where rodenticide is not an option but rodent pressure is still high
  • Multi-site portfolios where per-trap technician time has to stay low
  • Non-toxic transitions – replacing bait stations without losing operational effectiveness

FAQ

What is a multi-catch rat trap?

A multi-catch rat trap is a trap that resets itself automatically after each capture and continues operating without manual intervention. It stays in service between technician visits – capturing multiple rodents in succession – rather than becoming inert after the first strike.

Approximately 80 activations per CO₂ cartridge. That is the number of strikes the trap can perform before the cartridge needs replacement – enough to handle an active infestation across a full service interval in most operations.

Yes. The Aurotrap’s reset is mechanical, powered by the same CO₂ system that drives the strike. After each capture the trap returns to ready state without any manual intervention. The trap monitors its own status and notifies the operator when service is actually needed.

For real infestation control, yes. Multi-catch capability was historically the missing piece in non-toxic rodent control – the reason bait stations dominated was that they could keep working between visits. The Aurotrap closes that gap: continuous capture, verified strikes, and real-time monitoring.

A replaceable CO₂ cartridge drives both the strike and the reset. There is no external power required at the trap for the mechanical action itself – the battery powers the sensors, connectivity, and monitoring, and lasts 8–10 months per charge.

The Aurotrap is optimised for rats and also handles mice in the same unit. The current generation focuses on rat control performance; mice are captured through the same mechanism.

Anywhere rodent pressure is active or intermittent and where single-catch equipment would leave sites uncovered between visits – food production, warehouses, agricultural sites, and any environment where rodenticide is not viable but rodent risk is real.
