Data-driven rodent trap

From raw capture events to operational intelligence - pest control decisions built on data, not guesswork.

What "data-driven" really means for rodent control

Most rodent control operates on assumptions. Six visits per site per year, whether or not anything happens. Reports assembled from technician memory. Decisions based on the last thing someone remembers seeing on site.

A data-driven rodent trap replaces those assumptions with a continuous record. Each Aurotrap logs every event – captures, CO₂ level, battery status, service interventions, trap health – and streams it into one operational platform. Over weeks and months, that record becomes something no manual system can produce: an accurate picture of what is actually happening across an entire portfolio.

What the data tells you

Activity by site

Which locations have real rodent pressure – and which have been receiving unnecessary service for years?

Activity by time

Seasonal peaks, weekly cycles, response to structural changes – all visible in the data.

Service efficiency

Which routes are running efficiently? How much time is spent on productive intervention vs. routine inspection?

Consumable and lifecycle data

When will each trap next need a CO₂ cartridge? Which units are approaching service milestones?

How the Aurotrap works

1.  A rodent approaches

The rodent is lured in by bait. The open-tunnel design keeps neophobia low – rodents accept the trap faster than enclosed stations.

 2. A piston triggers, providing an instant kill

Sensors detect and verify strike position. The piston fires. CO₂-powered, ~30 kg of force. Instant kill, no chemicals.

 3. The rodent slides out – the trap resets

The rodent slides out by itself and the trap resets automatically, ready to strike again. ~80 activations per CO₂ cartridge.

4. Rodent report is sent

The event is reported. Capture, CO₂ level, battery, and trap health stream to the Aurocon platform in real time.

A patented multi-catch trap with a sensor-triggered piston powered by a replaceable CO₂ cartridge. 10+ years of operational lifetime, modular serviceable components.

From data to decisions

Working without data is working in the dark. With data you will be able to make decisions on an informed basis. In practice, it means you will know the following exactly:

  • Where to deploy – activity data guides where additional traps deliver the most impact
  • When to service – condition-based servicing replaces scheduled visits, cutting up to 67% of routine trips
  • How to price – real activity data informs service contract structure and renewal conversations
  • What to report – compliance and ESG reports generate automatically from the same underlying data
  • How to scale – patterns from one region or customer inform expansion into the next

Data that stands up to audit

For customers in regulated industries – food production, healthcare, public institutions, ESG-reporting corporates – pest control data is no longer internal. It is shared with auditors, submitted in filings, reviewed by procurement.

  • Every event timestamped and stored indefinitely
  • Reports generate directly from operational records, not manual entry
  • Data exportable in formats compatible with common compliance and ESG frameworks
  • API access into the operator’s own reporting infrastructure for select large scale operations

Where data-driven rodent control makes the biggest difference

  • Large multi-site portfolios with widely varying activity patterns
  • Distributed geographic operations where physical inspection is expensive
  • ESG-regulated industries where documentation quality is a competitive requirement
  • Food production, healthcare, and public sector clients with strict audit obligations
  • Growing operations that need to scale without adding administrative headcount

Tested and certified

  • Independently penetration tested – IoT device rated at minimal risk (Daisy Corporate Services, UK)
  • Radio and market compliance: FCC (US), RED (EU), ISED (Canada), RCM (Australia/New Zealand)
  • Material compliance: RoHS, REACH, CP65
  • Ingress protection: IPX5

FAQ

What makes a rodent trap "data-driven"?

A data-driven rodent trap does more than capture rodents – it generates a continuous, structured record of activity, condition, and service events, and feeds that record into a platform where operational decisions can be made from evidence rather than assumption.

Each Aurotrap continuously logs captures, CO₂ cartridge level, battery status, trap health, location, and every service intervention. Together this produces a full operational history for every device in the field.

Data guides where to deploy additional traps, when to service, how to price contracts, what to report to customers and auditors, and how to scale across regions. In practice, operators use it to eliminate roughly two thirds of routine service visits without reducing service quality.

Yes. Aurotrap Manager generates compliance-ready reports automatically, and the Aurotrap API allows raw event data to be pulled into the operator’s own ESG, sustainability, or audit reporting systems.

When every trap reports its own status in real time, service is triggered by actual events – a capture, a low cartridge, an alert – rather than a fixed schedule. Field data shows this reduces routine visits by up to 67%.

No. Aurotrap Manager presents operational data as clear dashboards, alerts, and reports designed for pest control technicians and managers. Deeper analysis is available through the API for operators from large scale operations and with existing software that allows it.

The platform surfaces activity patterns and trends across sites and time – seasonal peaks, rising activity at specific locations, changes after structural interventions – that let operators intervene earlier. Predictive modelling is an area of active development.
